Johnson grew up watching his father, professional wrestler Peter “High Chief” Fanene Maivia, and grandson, wrestler Rocky Johnson, compete in the ring. Johnson, who had no intention of following in his father’s footsteps, attended the University of Miami and showed promise with his stature and agility until he was halted by injuries.
