Alex Garland wrote and directed Annihilation, a 2018 science fiction psychological horror film based on Jeff VanderMeer’s 2014 novel of the same name. A party of explorers enter “The Shimmer,” a mysterious restricted zone of morphing plants and creatures caused by an alien presence.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)

The plot of the film Plan 9 Outer Space (1959) revolves around extraterrestrials attempting to prevent humans from developing a doomsday weapon capable of destroying the universe.
