Saani Kaayidhan Movie Review

Ponni works as a policewoman and Maari works in a rice mill. One day, Maari gets ill-treated at work because of his caste and his desire for an old man to contest elections. This results in the mill owners inflicting violence on Ponni’s family. How Ponni retaliates and what Sangaiya has to do with all this forms the rest of the story.

The performances of Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghavan are exceptional and terrific. Kanna Ravi had small screen space but was effective. Sam CS’s score is simple yet it creates impact in scenes. Yamini Yagnamurthy’s cinematography looks amazing especially the black and white portions and wide angle shots are captured really well. The fight choreography also is well executed too.

Saani Kaayidhan

Main problem is that there is no strong antagonist in the film. There are like 4 villains and all are similar in their actions. Another negative is that violence is too gruesome and after sometime it becomes forced and repetitive. The emotional arc of the film also could have been established a little more. In the film, everything Selva and Keerthy wants, they find it quickly without much of a struggle.

Overall, Saani Kaayidham is an average revenge drama which has great acting and visuals but little depth in writing.
